St. Joseph's Medical Center Breaks Ground on Major Expansion

On April 29, Dignity Health’s St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton broke ground on a major patient tower expansion, marking a significant step forward for healthcare in the San Joaquin Valley. The project will add a nearly 200,000-square-foot, five-story tower with 144 beds, including 120 acute care and 24 ICU beds, increasing the hospital’s capacity to serve patients with complex needs.

The expansion will also include a new surgical suite, an enlarged emergency department, upgraded seismic safety features, additional helipads, and a new parking structure. Now underway, the project reflects a continued investment in expanding access to high-quality care while supporting the region’s growing population and future healthcare demands.
