The Community Services Department invites residents to "Unearth the Stories and Unleash the Fun" throughout July for National Parks and Recreation Month
STOCKTON, Calif. – Following the Stockton City Council's June 23 proclamation recognizing July as National Parks and Recreation Month, the City of Stockton's Community Services Department is inviting residents to "Unearth the Stories and Unleash the Fun" throughout July with free events, recreation programs, community experiences, and library services designed to inspire learning, wellness, creativity, and connection.
National Parks and Recreation Month celebrates the essential role parks, recreation programs, community centers, and libraries play in enhancing the quality of life for Stockton residents. From outdoor recreation and creative arts to literacy programs and community gathering spaces, Stockton's Community Services Department provides opportunities for residents of all ages to learn, play, connect, and thrive.
Residents are invited to join the celebration at free events hosted throughout July at parks, community centers, and libraries across Stockton, including:
JULY EVENTS
July 2 - Tai Chi in the Park
Oak Park Senior Center
730 E. Fulton Street, Stockton, CA 95204
Times:
8:30–9:30 a.m. or 4:30–5:30 p.m.
Celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with an introductory Tai Chi class led by Bing Hui. No experience or equipment is necessary.
July 9 - Ollie's Magical Summer Celebration
Stribley Community Center
1760 E. Sonora Street, Stockton, CA 95205
Time:
5–7 p.m.
Families are invited to enjoy storytelling, creative activities, refreshments, and magical summer fun.
July 16 - The Power of Community: Outdoor Games & More
Arnold Rue Community Center

Time:
5:30–7:30 p.m.
Enjoy outdoor games, giant bubbles, sidewalk chalk art, and help create a community mural celebrating creativity, connection, and community.
July 23 - Crafting with Technology
Seifert Community Center

Time:
5–7 p.m.
Explore Cricut machines, 3D printing, and hands-on maker activities where creativity and innovation collide.
July 30 - Painting in the Park
Van Buskirk Community Center

Time:
5:30–7:30 p.m.
Create your own masterpiece while enjoying an evening of creativity, community, and outdoor fun.
July 30 - Sprouting Healthy Eating Habits
Ursula Meyer Community Center

Time:
11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Learn healthy cooking tips, watch live demonstrations, and discover nutritious, affordable recipes that can be recreated at home.
