Stockton, CA—San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will provide free rides starting Saturday, February 4 through Saturday, February 10 to celebrate Transit Equity Week and also commemorate the life and legacy of Rosa Parks.
Free rides will be available on all Hopper, Express, and Local fixed-route services and American with Disability Act (ADA) complementary service Dial-A-Ride. This promotion is available throughout San Joaquin County and provides individuals of all income levels with equal access to transportation. RTD encourages everyone to take advantage of this free ride opportunity.
Additionally, between February 4 and 5, RTD will reserve the front seat of every bus to honor Rosa Parks by commemorating her act of courage in sparking a moment for civil rights when she refused to give up her seat on a bus in 1955. These plaques will serve as a reminder of the importance of creating an equitable and inclusive public transportation system.
“We are committed to providing transit equity for all and believe that everyone deserves access to reliable and affordable transportation,” said RTD CEO Alex Clifford. “By offering free rides during Transit Equity Week, we can make a positive impact in our community and give individuals the opportunity to experience the benefits of public transportation.
