The three-day weekend is bringing Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations, a Stockton Kings game and a classic movie showing at the Bob Hope Theater.

Here are eight things to do starting Friday, with a Martin Luther King Jr. event at Chavez High School.

2nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

The second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration is back Friday, Jan. 12 at Chavez High School.

The event is presented by the African American/ Black Parent Advisory Committee in partnership with ELOP. Stockton's Americas Got Talent Winner Brandon Leake will be hosting the event.

This is a free event for the community. There will be free food and student performances. Doors will open at 3:45 p.m. The event starts at 4:30 p.m.

Stockton Kings vs Iowa Wolves

Spend your Friday night at the Stockton Kings vs Iowa Wolves game on Friday, Jan. 12. The NBA G League team is back for another season with the first home game of the year.

Tickets start at $15.

Dr. Martin L. King 5K/10 Walk/Run

The NAACP Stockton Branch is hosting a Dr. Martin L. King 5K/10 Walk/Run on Saturday, Jan. 13.

The event will take place from 8 to 11 a.m on Saturday at the Martin Luther King Plaza, located at 2 East Oak Street in Stockton. General admission tickets for the race are $50, plus fees. Tickets can be purchased online on Eventbrite.

2nd Saturdays for Families at the Haggin Museum

The Haggin Museum is hosting its Second Saturday for Families event of paper lanterns on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Second Saturday for Families events are for children ages 5-12 and feature hands-on events. Some activities may include art or interactive projects and museum events.

While reservations are not required seating is available on a first come-first served basis, their website states. Materials and activities are free with regular admission to the Haggin Museum.

On Saturday, children will learn how to make paper lanterns.

Tickets are $8 adults, $7 seniors and military, $5 youth 10-17 years old and students with ID. Admission is free for museum members and children under 10 years old.

Mata'irea Polynesian Culture Preservation Crab Feed

The Tahitian dance group Mata'irea Polynesian Culture Preservation's 12th Annual Crab Feed will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.

A fundraiser with Tahitian dance performances as you enjoy some crab.

"Back to the Future II" at the Bob Hope Theatre

If you love a classic movie then head over to the Bob Hope Theatre for movie day on the silver screen.

Friends of the Fox Classic Movie series presents "Back to the Future II," a 1989 science fiction and adventure film starring Michale J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Dave Moreno will be at the Mighty Morton organ at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and master of ceremonies Matías Bombal will kick off the movie at 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 for children 4-year-old to 12-years-old. General admission is $9.

Stockton Lantern Festival

This weekend is the last time you can experience the Stockton Lantern Festival before its last day on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Don't miss out on Koda's Journey to the Magic Forest with over 20,000 LED lights.

"Follow the footsteps of an 8-year-old boy named Koda to take on an exciting adventure to the deep woods of Caballococha, Peru," the Stockton Live website states. "The lines of reality and imagination start to blur as you weave through the forest."

Tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster starting at $20 for adults and $16 for children ages 2 to 12. Prices are lower from Monday through Thursday. On Friday through Sunday, ticket prices are $25 for adults and $21 for children.

Lodi's 26th Anniversary Celebration of Unity

Discover Lodi is hosting Lodi's 26th Anniversary Celebration of Unity in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 15.

The event starts at noon at the First United Methodist Church at 200 W Oak Street in Lodi. There will be speakers, music and a student essay competition and peacemakers awards. This is supported by the City of Lodi Arts Commission grant.
