Please join us for this special opportunity to promote literacy among the children of our community by signing up for this awesome annual event. It only takes a half-hour of your time but provides children with a great learning experience and you with a very rewarding time. You will be assigned to a K-3 Grade classroom at an elementary school in either Stockton Unified or Lincoln Unified.
As part of this commitment, you will need to buy an age appropriate book to read on this special day and then leave the book at the school as a donation. Barnes & Noble is offering a 20% discount when you mention the Rotary Read-In at checkout and they have prepared a suggested list of books – see the Stockton Rotary Read-In website
When you arrive at your assigned school you will check in with the office and often there is a hosted reception area so it’s a good idea to check in early. You will be escorted to your assigned classroom and then have about 20 minutes to visit with the children, tell them about yourself, and share your book. Often they have lots of questions and the time goes by quickly. Upon leaving, you will leave the book with the teacher to add to the school library.
If you can find time in your schedule to help us out we would love to have you! There is no cost for registration – the only cost is the book you choose. To sign-up, please contact Jim Dugoni at jimdugoni@gmail.com or (209) 607-9661.
Please feel free to pass this on to anyone else you know who might like to participate. This year, we will need 788 volunteers to read at a total of 74 schools within SUSD, LUSD, SJCOE, and Stockton schools in Lodi and Manteca!
