Community Hospice is an independent, community-based nonprofit organization that has served patients and families in the Central Valley since 1979. The organization serves community members in Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, Calaveras, Mariposa, Tuolumne and surrounding communities, with offices located in Stanislaus and San Joaquin.

We believe everyone deserves dignity, compassionate care and quality of life, no matter where one is in life. Community Hospice is committed to embracing individuals and families facing life-changing journeys, enhancing quality of life for all.

Our first Hope Chest Thrift Store opened in 1993 in Modesto, CA as a way to provide financial assistance to support the mission of Community Hospice. Since then, we have opened seven thrift stores throughout the Central Valley including our Stockton store.

The Hope Chest Thrift Stores receive donations of all kinds from the generosity of the community and local retailers. All items are examined carefully and if able to be used, they are cleaned and placed on the sales floor to be resold. Most non-sellable items are recycled to help reduce local landfill overflow. Most importantly, all proceeds stay in the community and help support compassionate and quality care for our Stockton friends and neighbors.
