Stockton, CA—San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) has placed four brand new Hopper vehicles into service in June 2021. “In order to continue providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for the region according to our primary mission,” said Maintenance Superintendent Brad Menil, “we must continue to make improvements such as upgrading the vehicles in our fleet.”
The new addition—2021 26’ cutaway coaches—are smaller and easier to maneuver through neighborhood streets. Customer amenities such as kneeling bus ramps and a more efficient HVAC system provides easier access and a more comfortable ride.
In addition to the upgraded amenities, the new vehicles will make traveling easier. With a map design on the vehicles featuring destinations served throughout the county and head signs with posted routes, passengers will be able to know where they can go and identify hopper routes easier.
In alignment with its sustainability core value, the gasoline engine in the new vehicles is equipped with new filtering technology which emits less pollution, providing cleaner air for the region.
