Leadership Stockton Class of 2025 Partners with PREVAIL to Renovate Youth Drop-In Center for At-Risk Youth
04/02/2025
The Leadership Stockton Class of 2025 has partnered with PREVAIL and The Mission Continues to transform a vital resource for at-risk youth in Stockton. Through this collaboration, Leadership Stockton has led a renovation effort to bring new life to PREVAIL’s Youth Drop-In Center, a space serving individuals ages 12 to 25 who are experiencing housing instability or other hardships.
The Youth Drop-In Center provides critical resources such as an emergency safe house, showers, meals, laundry services, and a supportive environment where young people can seek guidance. In 2023 alone, the center provided over 3,700 services to nearly 300 youth in need.
As part of the project, Leadership Stockton Class of 2025 focused on revitalizing the space by painting murals throughout the facility to create a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere. The team also assembled brand-new furniture for the lobby, multi-purpose room, and additional areas to enhance the comfort and functionality of the center.
This ambitious effort was made possible through the dedication of nearly 80 volunteers, including support from VFW Luneta Post 52, American Legion Karl Ross Post 16 & Auxiliary, The Stockton Marine Corps Club, and students from the University of the Pacific’s College Corps Program. Their contributions ensured that the project was completed successfully, reinforcing the power of community collaboration.
Leadership Stockton, an 11-month program under the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, is dedicated to fostering leadership and civic engagement. Each year, participants immerse themselves in key sectors of Stockton’s economy and identify a hands-on project to create positive change in the community. This year, their efforts have significantly improved the Youth Drop-In Center, ensuring that at-risk youth have a more welcoming and supportive space to access services.
With final touches underway, the Leadership Stockton team is excited to unveil the newly renovated facility at an upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will celebrate the hard work of volunteers, the resilience of the youth served, and the ongoing commitment of the Stockton community to uplift its most vulnerable members.
