Public library hours at the Cesar Chavez Central Library, 605 N. El Dorado Street, are changing effective Monday, November 13, 2023. The downtown library will now open an hour earlier and close earlier, shifting to meet the patterns of library users. The new hours are Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Each morning when we arrive, we find that community members have been waiting, and the last two hours of the day are very slow,” shared Community Services Director Kris Farro. “It only makes sense to shift our resources and availability to meet the needs of the community. Hours at the other library branches, which are all primarily located in neighborhoods, will remain the same. Micro libraries, located in our community centers, will continue to provide the same resources and activities with access to books, books on order from other branches, and computer use.”
